NOACs are anticoagulants one step ahead of warfarin as far as management, efficacy and safety are concerned. The concerned guidelines also recommend NOACs over warfarin when the level of recommendation is about the same. However, there are quite a few cases where NOACs cannot be used because the disease is not an indication or the patient is contraindicated. Therefore, it is important to use them differently from warfarin in the future also. Moreover, differential use of NOACs taking into account the characteristics of each of them and the patient's background, should also be kept in mind.
